Gerhard Klocker. ‘Abendgesellschaft’ Dogliani Castello 2017

Gerhard Klocker is a visual artist from Austria. He stayed with us at Dogliani Castello in summer 2017 and we got the photo series ‘Abendgesellschaft’ from him.

Gerhard Klocker was born in December 1962 in Hard, Austria, around the time the Beatles started out in Liverpool. Raised within a sound catholic background, he was showing first ambitions towards music with classical piano and Punk in 1979.

After moving to Vienna for some studies he returned to his hometown to try and work in different occupations before starting out as a photographer.

In 1985 he finally emigrates to London, England, where he spends his time learning
the art of survival as a waiter and carpenter.

Ten years of experience later he publishes his first book, Unsweetened, followed by a first solo exhibition in 1994. To this day Gerhard Klocker’s list of work includes several publications, art books and numerous short films. His work is regularly on display in collective as well as in solo exhibition throughout the world.

He lives and works out of Paris and Austria.
